Recent Outfits...

My love for pants continues to growand grow and grow. Here are a few recently worn outfits, including today's!

shirt- gap (on sale!!!)  |  pants- j.crew  |  shoes- nine west  | necklace- ? TheModernSiren

A note about the shirt--- it's a stunning pinkish/neon lilac color and I got a size medium tall. It's a little too big on me but it was sold out in size small tall and I tried it on in store in the regular length and it was a no-go. Maybe it will shrink a bit when I wash it. Overall though, the fit is good and I don't mind if it's a teeny bit loose. I also wore a blazer over this shirt at work but didn't wear it for the photos.

Outfits This Week...

Today when I got in my car after work, the outside temperature was 104 degrees. I am OVER summer. Bye bye, seriously.

I am ready for layers and not sweating profusely on my way home.  I'm driving our other car right now since our SUV is the only one that has a car seat (our car will have one soon, we just ordered it and will have it installed by the car seat specialist at the store). Anyway, the A/C in that car is not as intense and takes forever to cool down the car. So basically it's a sweat-fest all the way home.

Having said that, my office is as per usual, freezing. So dressing for the weather, the office temp and for pumping has been loads of fun. Below I'm sharing three outfits I wore this week. My apologies for the iPhone photos but the idea of getting out of my car, my torso drenched in sweat, and then having my H take photos in the blazing heat has been a big "nope, not happening!" this week.

A New Fall Neutral

This burgundy skirt from Target was a steal at $22---and I'm loving the way it mixes with various prints and color combos. It's almost like a neutral for fall.

I decided to add a tiny polka-dot blouse and a striped blazer in the same colors.  If you're scared to mix prints, try using prints in the same color family to ease into the trend.

Skirt- Target- mine is a size 6, for reference (buy it here!)
Belt- J.Crew (similar)
Blazer- Express (similar, similar)

Hope everyone has a great week and thank you for your patience as I was battling a virus this weekend. I am finally feeling like myself again :)

In Her Shoes

I'm very much a die-hard pencil skirt addict. But everyone once in awhile, I like to switch up my silhouette.

I think it's my new Zara shoes that inspired me to wear a fuller skirt this week.  I also had a luncheon to attend and wanted to look a little dressier, which I think a fuller skirt can sometimes accomplish.

By the way---the Zara shoes---wore them ALL day and walked around A LOT and they passed the comfort test! I was expecting them to be quite uncomfortable and was pleasantly surprised. Yay for heels that can be worn for an entire day! (especially ones this cute!)

In the (Yellow) Bubble

Learning to use my new MacBook Air and its programs has been both a challenge and a joy. Now that I'm used to the track pad, I don't quite know how I ever lived without it. The command button is now my friend and iPhoto and I are on speaking terms again.

You may have noticed an inconsistency in the sizing of my photos lately, but thank goodness I finally figured out that there is, in fact, a custom setting for photo sizes. Basically, the issue I ran into before was that I thought there were only pre-set photo sizes (small, medium, large, full size) and then I was having to crop the entire background of my photos out so that when I enlarged them in Blogger, they wouldn't go past the margins. Now that I can custom size them, I found the size that matches my margins and can keep the full background of the photos but still make them large. Sigh. It's the little things.

Speaking of the little things---what's not quite so little is my yellow bubble necklace from Groop Dealz, or, as I like to call it, the "endless compliments" necklace. What can I say? People love the bubble.

I didn't quite know what I'd pair my yellow necklace with. Not only is it a bold style, but yellow is quite the color to pull off with a statement necklace. So, for my first attempt, I paired it with an all-nude palette.

The Right Stripe

I didn't wait too long to break out my black and white striped blazer that I purchased last weekend. I absolutely love switching it up from my typical solid colors.

I am craving some cooler weather so that I can start layering more. I oftentimes envy those who live in cooler climates, because as much as I LOVE the warm weather practically year-round here, I do sometimes find that it gets boring to always dress in warmer-weather clothing. Bring on the brrrrr, mother nature! I'm ready for jackets, scarves and cozy sweaters!

Wishing everyone a wonderful week!   I have been busy in the evenings attending some events so next week should be back to normal.  Thank you to everyone who left lovely comments about our dining room and living room updates, I really appreciate your kind words!

Baubles & Bubbles

My bubble necklaces from GroopDealz finally came in after a long wait, but I'm thrilled with them.  They really dress up a tee and add something fun to an outfit.  I wore my turquoise bubble necklace today with a simple gray tee just to show what an impact it makes---and I paired it with simply black slim dress pants, a skinny gold belt and a fitted black blazer. I didn't have any meetings today so this was a little bit of a "dressed down" look for me---but also a fun change from my typical skirts and blouses.

Lace, Lilac & Lulu on a Friday

Though I haven't quite jumped on the peplum train yet, I do have one top, that, when belted, nearly fits the bill.

It's not quite the same look, but it's a nice change over having every top tucked in.  Perfect for a Friday at the office.

The Silk Blouse

When I don't know what to wear in the morning, I always reach for a dress shirt.  It's the always appropriate, can't-go-wrong choice.

I especially love this silk dress blouse from Banana Republic.  It's a perfect off-white color and the fabric feels luxurious and a little fancier than cotton.

The other thing I love about a silk blouse? It's seasonless. Winter, spring, summer or fall, it works.

Minty Saturday

When it's over 100 degrees outside, clothing options are limited. H and I were running errands on Saturday and I wanted to wear something comfortable that would also keep me cool.  So I went for a mint chocolate chip look with a little leopard thrown in, for good measure.

Tank- Banana Republic (love this; also LOVE this, and this)

Sandals- Steve Madden (similar; another cute black pair; super cute!)

Pleats, Please

Today I wore my Banana Republic accordian pleat skirt and it continues to be one of my favorite new pieces.  You can see how I styled it previously in my Banana Republic Desk to Dinner post.

Even though it is more of an A-line shape, it wears just as well as a classic pencil skirt and is just as versatile.  Fuller skirts with pleating also have a sort of feminine and flirty feeling to them and they're a nice option if you're looking to step outside of the pencil skirt box.

Skirt- Banana Republic (buy it here!
this one fits large so size down, mine is a small & I could have gotten XS)
Shoes- Nine West (buy them here)
