Black With a Flare

I'm still on my dress streak and I've been loving fuller skirts lately. Over the years, I've worn this Club Monaco dress too many times to count. It's such a substantial cotton---but still feels airy enough for these hot and humid days.

I also have to acknowledge my gold key necklace. This is a super old find from F21 that I got for like $4. I haven't worn it in quite some time, but something called me to it when I spotted it in my jewelry drawer. It's so simple and pretty and you can't beat that price. I really like this one that is available there now.

A Timeless Dress

I haven't purchased anything at Club Monaco in a few years now (their prices seem to have skyrocketed from what they used to be), but one piece I will always return to is this simple button-front dress (which I also own in white, my favorite of the two).

It's so easy to wear, has a nice full skirt and looks great belted too. I purchased this dress several years ago and I still find myself reaching for it.

It's All in the Details

The weather is finally getting pretty cold in Houston and I love it because that means I can layer more! and wear tights! and scarves! and jackets!

Here are two outfits I wore to work this week...
top- club monaco, old (similar) | skirt- ann taylor, old (similar) | tights- target | shoes- nordstrom | scarf- banana republic (pink sold out- gray leopard with yellow trim here)

I wanted to mention how comfortable my Halogen heels with the bow are. I give them a very high rating for comfort which is hard to come by in heels. So if you're on the fence, I would say order them! Great heel height too!
sweatshirt (sold out in gray- on sale in mint, here- mine is a size small, for reference), perfect shirt (similar also at j.crew), pants- j.crew minnie pants

I absolutely love that sweatshirts have been glammed up this season. The comfy, cozy fabric is so soft and perfect for the colder temperatures but the pretty bib necklace detailing on it makes it feminine and dressier than the sweatshirts of the past.

I hope you're staying warm!

In Her Shoes

I'm very much a die-hard pencil skirt addict. But everyone once in awhile, I like to switch up my silhouette.

I think it's my new Zara shoes that inspired me to wear a fuller skirt this week.  I also had a luncheon to attend and wanted to look a little dressier, which I think a fuller skirt can sometimes accomplish.

Necklace- Regina Pierallini
Blazer- Express (similar, similar)
Shoes- Zara (buy them here)

By the way---the Zara shoes---wore them ALL day and walked around A LOT and they passed the comfort test! I was expecting them to be quite uncomfortable and was pleasantly surprised. Yay for heels that can be worn for an entire day! (especially ones this cute!)

Black on Black

I don't know what got into me this morning. Maybe it's the fact that I saw a personal trainer at my new gym on Sunday and realized that I am not as in shape as I thought I was (and can barely walk today)....and maybe it's that I need to curb my sugar addiction... or maybe it's because it was gloomy out...but I decided to wear all black. GASP! It's like I'm taking this blog back to 2009.

It's nice to switch it up sometimes though and I can never quite get enough of a great polka-dot top.

Top- Club Monaco (old, another option; and another)
Skirt- J.Crew (

Necklace- Forever 21 (old,
