The Slim Pant- Banana Republic's Sloan Slim Ankle Crops on Sale!

There's not much to say about this outfit--- a dress shirt paired with a slim pant is hardly anything to get excited about.

But---I would be remiss not to mention that my favorite Banana Republic Sloan Ankle Crop Pants are currently on sale for $35 in black and $40 for the navy I'm wearing in this photo. I get the tall and they're just perfect. In fact, I ordered myself a new black pair since I accidentally put them through the washer and dryer awhile back (they're dry clean only, which is a con, but very much worth it for the way they fit). Several of us at the office wear these and we're obsessed!

They're usually $89.50, so scoop these up now if you can!

A Jeweled Collar

Did y'all know that J.Crew changed the design of their No. 2 pencil skirt? What the heck! Aside from the fact that they wrinkle like crazy from sitting/general wear, they are nearly perfect in terms of fit. Now, to be fair, I haven't tried the new style on, so I could very well like them as much or more, but the feedback I've gotten so far has not been positive. It made me thankful to own the original version of this skirt in an embarrassing amount of colors.

Yesterday I paired it with a J.Crew factory jeweled-collar blouse. I love the feminine detail of the ruffled and embellished collar.

Before I go, I wanted to share the one item I picked up from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale--and it's these gorgeous faux calf hair, leopard-print heels by Halogen. I love the lower heel and that the print is calf hair, I always think that looks more expensive when the shoe has an animal print. They fit great and are on sale right now for $59.90! You can buy them here.

Lace + Chambray

I'm having a lot of my favorite work dresses altered at the tailor this week so sign me up for a week full of skirts!

This navy blue lace skirt from Zara has been one of my most favorite pieces for a few years now. It's so feminine and easy to wear.

I've also been wearing my Vince Camuto Effel sandals like crazy. They're SO comfortable. Thanks to Luba for recommending them!

Our Weekend

I love living in Texas. Believe me, I'm the first to sing the praises of this mostly-sunny-year-round state, but these past few weeks of temps in the 90's and 100's (and about 130 degrees when you get into your car after work) are not good.

We had a fun weekend of Harper antics and family time. For some reason, even though she's down to one nap at day at daycare, she's still wanting to take two naps on weekends. Maybe Little Gym really tires her out or maybe she loves us so much that she wants us to be able to sneak in some extra zzzz's too. Either way, thank you, sweet girl!
Yes, this is my child trying to eat her father's foot.
Saturday afternoon we headed out to Tyler's first birthday party, drenched in sunscreen. There was a snow cone truck and trackless train rides and we had a fun time, despite the raging heat (thank goodness for big trees that provided the perfect amount of shade!) Harper, as always, wanted more goldfish and made her desire very known when this photo was taken.
Saturday night I went out for Candice's birthday. We ate at 60 Degrees Mastercrafted and I had the steak burger and mac n' cheese. Delish!

I wore an old favorite, this bright coral Parker dress with my Vince Camuto heels.
After dinner, we headed to Local Pour, which was packed. I'm not much of a bar person these days, but they had a really great live band with a female singer and she was fantastic.

Sunday was all about relaxing and Harper and I had a glorious nap together. God I love nap time. Then there were more tea parties...
Megan brought Starbucks over during Harper's second nap. It was fun catching up and caffeinating ourselves.
Then Candice came over so we could say happy birthday and give her the card we made for herand by weI mean methough Harper did try to eat some of the card stock while I hot glued it all together.
I also decided that the chalkboard should get an update, given that it still said "Happy Birthday Harper." Summer is sweet, indeed.

Harper Reese- 14 Months Old!

We are two weeks into Harper's transition to the toddler room at daycare and it could not be going any better. They are on such a fantastic schedule and they do so many activities. arts and crafts and have twice daily outdoor play.

They still have the cameras in her class and I was watching one morning while the teachers put on a full-on puppet show and I thought to myself "these people know what they're doing." I've had so much guilt about being a working mom, but seeing how much fun she has, how engaging the teachers are and how well she's doing is helping quell some of these feelings. The other day, she even cried when we left, which admittedly broke my heart, but then she cried pretty much the entire rest of the night, including with red-faced feet stomping, so it was just a bad night for her. She was lovely the next dayahhh toddlers.

Speaking of tantrums, we've definitely noticed that she's testing her boundaries and being quite dramatic. It's hit or miss on what her mood will be any given day and throw teething into the mix and some days are just a disaster from the very start.

Epic tantrums aside, she has a very sweet side to her personality. She will rub your arm or leg or gently pat our heads, she hugs her baby doll and cares for her like a real baby (except for when she throws her headfirst onto the floor), still loves being silly, playing peek-a-boo and being chased. She loves being "surprised" when I pop out from behind the kitchen island when we play "hide and seek."

As you can see in the photos from this month's session, little miss was not in the mood. It was nearly impossible to get photos this time around, she was running all over the place like the busy little toddler she is. Oh well!

I'm changing the format of these updates to simply include favorite moments, memories and milestones. I really write these for myself to have as a reference and the more detailed updates were fun when she was an infant, but she does so many cute things each month I want to share some of my favorites.
Height + Weight:
Our next pediatrician appointment isn't until next month, so I think she's probably about 25 lbs now and a little taller too! She is still in size 4 diapers.

Favorite Moments, Memories & Milestones:
Harper has "tea parties" with her animal friends. She puts them into a group on the floor and pours them a cup of tea.

Harper can draw with markers and scribble on our chalkboard.

She wants to read constantly and brings us book after book. She can identify a book when asked, which surprised me. I can ask her to get "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" out of a pile of 10 books and she will find it and bring it to me.

She understands so much. Her receptive language grows by the day and she always surprises us with all she understands.

She dances like no body's business. Her jam right now is "chandelier" by Sia. It comes on and she smiles immediately and breaks into a dance that's all her own.

When I say "ring, ring, who's calling?" she picks up whatever is around and brings it to her ear, haha!

When she FaceTimes with her grandma Zuzi, she actually kisses the screen when my mom asks for a kiss

She tries to put on her own shoes, and tries to put them on our feet too

She babbles a lot and babbles "sentences." Still not a lot of words, but she's been working on so many other skills. We talk and read to her a ton and she understands so much so I know she will get it on her own time.

She can brush her own hair (and ours too!) and tries to put her own hair bows on

She likes to drink out of mama's big Starbucks cup (with supervision of course, that massive straw could seriously impale a toddler running around with it)

She likes all of the food. Seriously, this child is still absolutely frantic about food and loves to eatand it better be on her plate tout de suiteor else!

She loves to twirl in circles and can walk backwards (I think she realized this when it was the "skill of the week" at Little Gym)

She currently hates bath time. She just cries as soon as she's in the tub. Sometimes she can be distracted if she plays with the running water. Most of the time, it's just crying.

She can kiss and most recently can blow kisses.

She can touch/point to body parts when asked "where is your nose/eyes/belly" etc.

She still takes awhile to warm up to new people and situations--- but sometimes she will surprise us and totally ham it up when we go out to eat---waving and smiling at everyone around us. Other times. she's stone cold until she's adjusted.

She still loves her paci. She's using it only at night for sleep and sometimes we will give it to her if she's inconsolable from teething. They've weaned her off of it at daycare for her naps therebut we haven't had any luck at home. She just screams in her crib and cries for itand if I try to hold her and comfort her in other ways she just pushes off of me and gets even more worked up. Any tips mamas who've been there? I've read some online already about saying "bye bye" to paci and having a ceremony of sorts, but I don't think she's cognitively at the point of really understanding that.

Her smiles still melt my hearther laughs even more so.

The Uniform

Growing up, I went to Catholic school and in high school we wore uniforms. I sometimes hated them, but I'll be the first to admit they made mornings much easier.

Two looks have become a uniform for me in the working world--- a simple top tucked into a pencil skirt and a crisp white shirt and skinny dress pants. These combos always makes me feel great and ready to take on the day.

A Coral Dress

Coral is a color I don't own a ton ofin fact, I think I have one J.Crew pencil skirt in that color. So when I saw this dress at Gap and tried it on, I knew I had to have it (it's also on sale for less than $40 right now!)

Not only does it have a beautiful full skirt, which I've been loving lately, it is so airy and comfortable. I'm planning to add about 2 inches of length to the hem but other than that it's perfect. The dress is actually a tall, but you would never know it since it's not as long as a tall typically is.

For work, I paired it with my navy blue blazer from Artizia, but I didn't show that in these photos since it's blazing hot out and I didnt wear the blazer until I was in the office.

Beach Vacation + Swimwear Picks!

Y'all I am SO excited--- we just booked a vacation for later this fall! I can't tell you how much I've longed for a vacation. I didn't travel during my pregnancy and though our trip to Toronto was fun, it wasn't the relaxing beach vacation I craved (and it didn't help that I was a hormonal mess for the better part of the trip).

The best part of all of this is that I invited my mom and her husband as well as my in-laws to join us and they all said yes! It will be so nice for my mom especially to have extra time with Harper and we will get to have fun with family but also have amazing caretakers for Harper so we can have some date nights and do things like swim with dolphins and go snorkeling. I feel so lucky that everyone was able to come!

We picked Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas because the resort has lots of fun things for little ones like splash pads, shallow pools and aquariums. There's just so much to see and do along with beautiful beaches, and several of our friends have gone and loved it!

Inspired by our upcoming trip, below are some of my favorite swimsuit and cover-up picks! I already own a lot of bikinis so I may pick up a couple of one pieces for our trip so I can have a variety of suits to choose from.

Here are some of my favorite pieces by Zinke Swim, Nordstrom & Victoria's Secret!
