The Spotted Watercolor Dress

I didn't buy a lot of clothes in 2013. I was pregnant for some of it, on maternity leave for some of it and then uninspired for much of the year. Sure, I bought a few pieces here and there, but nothing like before.

While I'm so excited about all of the spring and summer clothes in stores right now, I can't help but love the fact that I'm also rediscovering pieces in my closet. I feel like every outfit post lately is a throwback to things I bought nearly two years ago or longerI guess I made some decent choices (and plenty of bad ones too!)

Here's a Presley Skye dress I bought at Nordstrom quite some time ago paired with a Zara blazer that I've worn quite a bit.
dress- presley skye via nordstrom (similar, this is so pretty too)  | shoes- j.crew factory  | blazer- zara (similar- on sale,  this banana republic one is STUNNING)
I love the pops of watercolor-like brights and pastels in this dress. Definitely a winner and so easy to wear.

Happy Wednesday!

Re-Styling a "Memorable" Dress

Sometimes when a dress really makes a statement (like my yellow lace Lucille dress from J.Crew), you tend not to want to wear it as often because it's so "memorable."

I think they key is to have fun with the piece, everytime adding one or two different elements. This time, I switched out the fabric belt the dress came with to this hot pink belt that I got at the J.Crew outlet last summer. I also later added the navy blue cardigan. It's about making little tweaks that make the piece feel fresh.

Snakeskin for Summer

I usually eat my lunch at my desk during the work week, but today I had lunch with some of my fellow fashion bloggers Annina, Linley and Nina.  We went to Tiny's no. 5 in West U and I had an incredible steak salad.

I wore this Presley Skye dress that I got at Nordstrom months ago. I've worn it before but haven't featured it on the blog until today (you probably saw my colorful leopard-print one in a previous post).  I love how the snakeskin pattern is summerized with the bright colors on the dress.

Blazer- Zara; Necklace- Banana Republic

Hope everyone has a great weekend!  I'm writing this post after our trial CrossFit workout, so as you might imagine, I'm pretty tired and weak feeling.  If you've ever done CrossFit, I would love to hear your thoughts about it in the comments below!
