H-E-B Fall Beauty Picks

Though it's still over 90 degrees outside most days, it's safe to say that along with cooler temperatures, I'm craving a lot of other things fall brings--- like layering, coats, boots and bolder makeup looks.

I got to test out some of H-E-B's Fall Beauty Picks and I'm sharing with you the look I created. The products I was sent to try are:

After a long, hot and humid summer, hair rehab is a good idea. I applied this spray as the first product after I brushed out my freshly-washed and towel-dried hair. Then, I added my other usual styling products and blew it out as usual. I like that this protects and conditions my hair outside of the shower.
I used these metallic Revlon eye shadows to line my upper and lower lid- the lighter color for the lower lash line and the darker for the upper (the darker is called "Onyx," the lighter shade is "Gunmetal"). I used an angled eye shadow brush. I also added a black liner on my waterline and two coats of CoverGirl LashBlast mascara.
To complete this look, I used Revlon ColorStay Moisture Stain in a deep berry color. I always shy away from darker lips but I absolutely adored this shade. The best part is that if you rub it off, there's a great stain left so you can tone it up or down as you like. The color isn't as dark as it looks in the package---it leaves a beautiful berry stain that's perfect for fall after a summer of corals, nudes and pinks.
I also used L'oreal's Magic Lumi primer underneath my powder on my cheekbones and one line down my nose.  Unfortunately, Harper took the primer and hid it somewhere before I had the chance to take the product photos for this post, so I'm borrowing from this blog. I really hope I find it because it gives a nice glow to the skin.
One of my favorite things to do as fall begins is to start using deeper shades on my nails. OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark is a favorite of mine. I got to test out Sao Paulo Over There which is a pretty brown shade that reminds me of the way the leaves change color in the fall. I think it would complement a lot of skin tones.

H-E-B Beauty Picks: Radiant Orchid

Last year, I was absolutely smitten with Pantones choice of emerald as the color of the year. Not only is it my birthstone, but its one of my favorite colors and I own a few pieces I just love in that color, including this dress, this dress and this one.

This years color, Radiant Orchid, is every bit as beautiful and I already have several pieces in my closet that feature this color. Ive also seen this color pop up in a lot of J.Crews pieces this season, even for baby!

H-E-B recently sent me some beauty picks celebrating Radiant Orchid as the color of the year. As you know, when Im not using my typical palette of neutrals (browns, grays and black), I reach for purple liners and shadows to make my eyes pop.
 | NYXC Love in Rio |
Three perfect purple shades from a soft lilac to a deep midnight purple can create a pretty smokey eye

| Rimmel Water Proof Exaggerate Eye Definer in Purple Shock |
This liner is a little edgy for an everyday look, but boy does it have staying power and incrdible pigmentation.

| L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Caresse Wet Shine Stain in Berry Persistent |
I already own this gloss in the light pink color and LOVE it. It lasts such a long time and I love the gel-like texture when you apply it. This color looks very purple in the tube but is a bold berry shade when applied to the lips.

| NYX roll on shimmer in Pink |
This is the coolest product I've tested out in awhile. I was skeptical of the roll-on, but it truly works and is SO pigmented (as you can see below)

Orchid Nail Lacquer in Whats Sa-Rong?
I don't wear metallic polish very often, but this shade is perfect for an accent nail. I would pair it with Essie's "splash of grenadine"
top to bottom- eyeshadow, roll on shimmer, eyeliner, lip gloss

I just love purple---all shades! One of my favorite pairs of shorts is a beautiful, bright orchid color. I can't wait to wear them again this summer!
Do you love this year's Pantone color of the year? Do you own any makeup items or clothing in this color? Share below!

August Beauty Picks from H-E-B

If you've read my blog for awhile, then you know I'm the type of gal who likes to stick to with a signature look. I love trying new products, but sometimes I hesitate to try different products because I don't want to deviate too much from my day-to-day routine. However, some of my most holy grail products were discovered on a whim, so in the spirit of trying new things, I'm thrilled to announce that I'm partnering with H-E-B to review beauty products from a variety of different brands every few months!

I like that I'll have the chance to review products I had anticipated trying out---and also ones I may have never thought to try out.

Here are my favorites of the ones I tested out this month!
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

I was excited to see these in my beauty package because I had heard so many great things about this new L'Oreal line.  As some of you may know, L'Oreal makes Kerastase products, which are considered some of the best haircare products on the market, so I tend to be impressed with most of their L'Oreal Paris products too---and let's face it, the price point is just right. This shampoo and conditioner have a nice scent and make hair feel clean and soft without weighing down my roots, thank goodness, because I like a blowout that's very voluminous. I also used the Dual Protect Spray from the line before blowdrying and really enjoyed it. It helps protect hair against the heat of your blowdryer and other styling tools while conditioning and softening your hair.  This was probably my favorite set of products to test out from the batch!

Milani Baked Blush
I was pleasantly surprised by this blush because it's in a color I wouldn't ordinarily pick for myself (it's called Berry Amore).  First of all, though I use a matte blush daily, I liked that this one had a slight shimmer to it which made my cheeks look glow-y. Though the color is called "berry," it's still very much a pretty pink shade that gives a natural looking flush to the cheeks.  Though I wouldn't swap my everyday blush out for it, I thought it had good pigmentation lasted a full day and looked pretty on my skin. I also checked out some other reviews online of this blush and holy glowing cheeks!  If you prefer a dewier look, this is the blush for you, it looks beautiful on so many skin tones.

Dove Go Fresh Body Wash
I absolutely love Dove soaps and body washes. I have been a devotee of their sensitive skin bar soap for years and recently tried the body wash version of the soap as well. Dove's Go Fresh body wash is rich and moisturizing (not at all watery like some body washes) and smells lovely (I love fruity scents!) Definitely a staple in your shower---and when I don't feel like using shaving cream, the rich texture of the body wash totally does the trick.

Maybelline Rocket Volume Mascara
Though I received the regular version of this mascara, I had purchased the waterproof version myself months ago and never got around to reviewing it on my blog.  I am a sucker for products with the word "volume" in them, especially when it comes to lashes. I like length, but for me, volume and thickness is essential because I feel I get great length to my lashes just by curling them---so bring on any product that can give me lush, full lashes! This is a great mascara. It does deliver on the promise of adding volume to lashes and I also like using it on my bottom lashes.  The brush is thick too, which I like and it's buildable, so I can apply a few coats without it clumping all over the place.  I wouldn't say it's the best mascara I've ever used, but the best mascara I've used costs $30 a tube, so this mascara gives nice results, for less than 1/3 of the price!

L'Oreal Revitalift Miracle Blur
Of all the products I tested out, this one struck my curiosity most. I remember that there was a similar skin blurring product that was being raved about on YouTube beauty channels nearly a year ago but I never tried it.  This product is supposed to help disguise fine lines, pores and even out skin.  I applied it after moisturizer but before my makeup. It has the consistency of a makeup primer but it didn't make my powder foundation look strange like typical makeup primers have in the past. I did not use it all over my face, instead focusing on areas where I could use a little blurring action--- my forehead, for fine lines and my nose, for pores.  It did seem to reduce the appearance of my pores especially, both right when I applied it (it makes skin look really even and more matte) and even moreso under my makeup. Overall I'd say this product is definitely worth trying and it may even be a great fit for someone who doesn't wear a base but wants to create the illusion of more even toned skin.

I hope you all enjoyed these reviews and I'm excited to get the next batch of products to test out!  All of these products are available at H-E-B so you can prettify yourself while also shopping for groceries...and these days, I appreciate the convenience of a one-stop-shop more than ever before.

Have you tried any new products lately? Is there anything I should try out?  Share your recommendations below!

Lip Loves: L'Oreal Color Caresse Wet Shine Stain & Maybelline Color Whisper

I haven't reviewed beauty products in what seems like an eternity so I'm so excited to share a couple of products with you that I've been using recently that are deserving of a review.

As you all know, my makeup routine is the exact same everyday. I use the same products and apply them the same way.  The one exception to this is lip products. I find myself trying new lip products more than any other makeup products.  I get less attached to lip products and always want to try the new lip gloss or lipstick whereas I don't feel the same thrill to try a new foundation or bronzer (in fact, I can be downright reluctant to).

Two products have impressed me recently. The first is L'Oreal's Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain.  It was an impulse buy at the grocery store and since I hadn't bought makeup in months, I thought, why not? I'm so glad I got it because I absolutely love it (and it was on sale too!)

It's basically applies like a stain, but shines like a gloss.  It doesn't give the super-shine look like most glosses do, but that's what I love about it. The shine is more subtle, but it's still glossy and has the look of a gloss, without feeling too sticky or heavy. The texture is lovely and it is long-lasting. I put it on every morning before I leave the house!

Mine is in the color "Pink Perseverance." It's a beautiful soft pink. You can buy it here.

The second lip product I'm enjoying is Maybelline's new Color Whisper gloss. It's similar to Revlon's lip butters, but truthfully, I like this one better. I like how it gives a very sheer color to the lips and I like the way it feels. It doesn't have a residue at all and it feels balmy. Perhaps what I appreciate most about it is that

I got the color "Petal Rebel." The color is a pretty pink---but not a baby pink (which is what a lot of my glosses are). You can buy it here.
