Labor Day Sales + My Picks

Hello and happy Saturday! It's Labor Day sale time and I'm sharing with y'all below some of my favorite items from a few stores having great sales. I'm definitely picking up a few of these items for myself!

Today my friend texted me to let me know that Zara has finally re-opened in the Galleria mall and that they have a baby/kids section now which I'm thrilled about because their stuff is so adorable. Like seriouslythese dresses? This tee? Perfection. Zara was one of my favorite stores to shop at and I'm glad they renovated to make it two stories, because it was always so packed and busy that the shopping experience wasn't very enjoyable.

Recent Target Buys

I'm sorry I've been a little MIA from the blog this week. This past work week was so busy and next week is gearing up to be the same, so I took a little break.

I ended up going to Target tonight to buy a gift for a birthday party we're attending tomorrow and I thought I'd share some of my purchases. I love seeing what other people buy when they shop, so I hope you enjoy a peek into my cart!

You've probably seen these pants everywhere. Megan got them several weeks ago and I went to my Target and all they had left was an XS and XL. They must have re-stocked them because I was able to buy the medium today. I love these- soft and comfy! I always change into sweatpants after work and these will be perfect for that. I like that the top band folds down because it makes them fit nicer on me.

This dress was one of the items I threw into my cart thinking "what the heck, why not?!" knowing I probably wouldn't end up buying it...but it looked so cute when I put it on that I couldn't pass it up.

I didn't end up buying these adorable leopard print pants because do I really need another pair of lounge pants (brain says no, heart says yes) but they were too cute not to share. #regrets

I purchased a few books for Harper's friend's birthday party and I couldn't resist getting these two for Harper. They're written by the same author as my beloved "It's time to sleep, my love" book so I knew I would love thempretty sure Harper will too!

WARNING!!! Addicting product above! A co-worker turned me onto these and it's been love ever since. I often have a few (okay, a small handful) of these after dinner and it's the perfect thing to satisfy my sweet tooth without eating half a bag of miniature oreos.

I've been using Secret clinical strength for years, as well as Up&Up non-acetone nail polish remover. And, here's a confession: I pay $1 for the ELF lash curler so I can use the replacement inserts on my Shu Uemera lash curler. Cheap and effective.
Lastly, I picked up some Seventh Generation laundry detergent. I use tons of SG cleaning products in our home and absolutely love the brand. I usually use Tide free + clear for our entire family's laundry, but this was on sale and since I love the brand, I wanted to give it a try.

I hope you all have a great long weekend!

H-E-B Fall Beauty Picks

Though it's still over 90 degrees outside most days, it's safe to say that along with cooler temperatures, I'm craving a lot of other things fall brings--- like layering, coats, boots and bolder makeup looks.

I got to test out some of H-E-B's Fall Beauty Picks and I'm sharing with you the look I created. The products I was sent to try are:

After a long, hot and humid summer, hair rehab is a good idea. I applied this spray as the first product after I brushed out my freshly-washed and towel-dried hair. Then, I added my other usual styling products and blew it out as usual. I like that this protects and conditions my hair outside of the shower.
I used these metallic Revlon eye shadows to line my upper and lower lid- the lighter color for the lower lash line and the darker for the upper (the darker is called "Onyx," the lighter shade is "Gunmetal"). I used an angled eye shadow brush. I also added a black liner on my waterline and two coats of CoverGirl LashBlast mascara.
To complete this look, I used Revlon ColorStay Moisture Stain in a deep berry color. I always shy away from darker lips but I absolutely adored this shade. The best part is that if you rub it off, there's a great stain left so you can tone it up or down as you like. The color isn't as dark as it looks in the package---it leaves a beautiful berry stain that's perfect for fall after a summer of corals, nudes and pinks.
I also used L'oreal's Magic Lumi primer underneath my powder on my cheekbones and one line down my nose.  Unfortunately, Harper took the primer and hid it somewhere before I had the chance to take the product photos for this post, so I'm borrowing from this blog. I really hope I find it because it gives a nice glow to the skin.
One of my favorite things to do as fall begins is to start using deeper shades on my nails. OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark is a favorite of mine. I got to test out Sao Paulo Over There which is a pretty brown shade that reminds me of the way the leaves change color in the fall. I think it would complement a lot of skin tones.

Our Weekend...

Kevin had his fantasy football draft Saturday, so I planned a fun mommy + daughter day. Though I absolutely adore spending time together as a family, there's something special about a one-on-one day with this sweet girl.

Kevin joined us for Little Gym before he made his way down to his friend's house for the draft and then Harper and I headed out for some lunch after her nap.

We shared some chicken roll-ups, tomato soup and slaw from Zoe's Kitchen. Yum!

After lunch, we headed to Marshall's Home Goods for a jewelry holder project I'm working on. Harper was charming everyone around us with her waves, smiles and sweetness. She sometimes gets more reserved in public places, but not yesterday!

To be honest, I try to avoid trips to the store on weekends or do them while she's sleeping because I'd rather do something that's fun for Harper like take her to the Children's Museum or on a play date. Plus, toddlers (and all kids) can get so fussy at the store because all they do is want to run around (more on that later).

However, if I do take her, I try to make the trips as fun as I possibly can and Marshalls was the perfect place to do that because there's such a variety of things to look at. As we walked through the aisles, we stopped and made funny faces in the mirrors, pointed out objects she sees in her books (decorative animal figurines, pillows, lamps, faux flowers etc). I would describe the colors and shapes we saw and let her feel different textures as we shopped. She was all smiles during this trip and really enjoyed the back-and-forth engagement we had while we strolled along. Don't get too excited because this was most definitely NOT the case at Old Navy later on in the day.
The thing I was most excited about for our mommy + daughter date was to take Harper out for her first frozen yogurt. I took her to Pinkberry and as you might imagine, Harper absolutely loved it and cried a bit when I said/signed that we were "all done." Apparently, Harper wasn't "all done." Ha.

Let's rewind a little to before we arrived at Pinkberry. I heard some strange yet familiar noises coming from the car seat and then the telltale smell. I was going to change her in the car like I've done before, but it was such a small parking lot that I didn't want to impede anyone coming or going to a parking space. So I went inside and figured I could change her before we had our yogurt.

First of all, there was no changing table, but it wasn't my first rodeo with that issue, so I pulled out my massive changing pad and laid her down (seriously, get an extra large/padded changing pad because things like this come up!) So...this diaper was not good. Everything was everywhere and her shorts had poop on them too. Harper got shots on Thursday at her 15 month appointment and she almost always experiences this side effect for a couple of days after shots. Thankfully she always acts and eats normally despite this.

I had a change of clothes in my diaper bagor so I thought. I had a 9 month size onesie in there and no other clothes were to be found. Where had they gone? Why was the onesie that was in there a 9 months size? So many questions, no answers.

I was definitely that mom this weekend. The one people probably side-eyed for letting their child out in public in a diaper. Thank God her top was a tunic-style because I think it created the illusion that she indeed did have some kind of bottoms on (or maybe I just told myself that).

After getting everything good and clean (using about 10 wipesugh), I washed our hands and we ordered an original and raspberry frozen yogurt mix with some kiwi.
(excuse me, I'm eating my froyo here...)
Wanting to buy some shorts for my bottom-less child, I realized that good ol' Old Navy was just down the road. "Perfect," I said to myself. "I will buy my child some new shorts and all of the things will be better again."
We got to the store and I wanted to make a beeline for the baby/toddler section, but Harper decided she wanted to interact with the mannequins. They do have some pretty cute pink hair bows in common.
Harper kept squirming out of my arms the entire time we were in the store and anytime I let her go she ran as though trying to escape police after robbing a bank. Oh this little one. I couldn't find any shorts in her size that I liked or that she didn't already have, go figure. So instead, I bought her this awesome vest.

I mean, how could I NOT buy it after this reaction? Since we failed to find shorts at ON, we walked over to Carter's for round two. We didn't find shorts there, either, But we did find these adorable $5 t-shirts and a denim dress.

When we got home, we took some selfies...

Auntie Candice came over just in time for bath time. Then Harper went to sleep and C and I ordered pizza and had some much-needed girl time.
YUM!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
