When I was pregnant, our plan was to have our cleaning ladies come to the house every two weeks but we don't have a regular day scheduled and by the time I remember to call them I realize it's been 4-5 weeks since they last came. Not good. So we've been cleaning in between their visits and have them do more deep cleaning when they come. On a typical Saturday morning you can find me vacuuming my hardwood floors as Harper eats breakfast and Kevin's making us coffee. It's very glamorous.
Last weekend, we tackled some projects like organizing our kitchen cabinets, getting rid of clutter and overall just organizing areas of the house that badly need attention (like my closet).
Our cabinets were poorly organized so we opened them up and removed things we didn't use or moved them to an cabinet that we hardly ever use. Cleaning gives me a nice sense of control in an otherwise chaotic world, ha. It's like therapy without a co-pay.
We also cleaned all of the cabinet fronts. I can't wait until I'm done pumping and we can get rid of one of the drying racks.
Ahhhhhhhmuch better! I also decided to remove the 2-tier tray we had on our kitchen island because it became a free-for-all catch-all for all of the things. Car keys, sunglasses, mail, you name it. It became less decorative and more and more like a treadmill that collects clean laundry in your bedroom.
I got some very Spring-y faux cherry blossoms from Michael's Arts & Crafts and placed them into a Pottery Barn pitcher I've had for quite some time. Speaking of crafting stores, I recently added this pretty ginger jar to the desk in our living room. It was very inexpensive (plus 40% off) at Hobby Lobby.
Are you Spring cleaning right now? Any decor plans for Spring/Summer? My goal this year is to give some love to our master bedroom. I don't like the color it's painted and regret not going with a simple, clean white which would have brightened it up (there's only one window) and made it feel more airy and welcoming. I also want to add curtains and some artwork in our room. I think we've made a lot of progress in the rest of the house and we won't live here forever, so I don't want to invest too much, but just enough to make the space a little more appealing.
